Journalism and Free Press

My profession as a journalist and defender of press freedom always invaded my paintings. This series illustrates the phenomenon of crimes against journalists and the impunity that surrounds them. I painted this series of 15 at the end of the 90s. "The three Irmas and her son", in honor of the journalist, psychologist and social activist, Irma Flaquer, from Guatemala, who disappeared and whose son was killed in the attack, shows the duality between the dark of the impunity and the hopeful light of justice. Several of these paintings are in the newsroom of newspapers in Latin America, and all of them are in the homes of journalists. Just a coincidence?
